Fake Cops Rob Bengaluru Businessman of Cash, Gold
A group of four men pretending to be police officers entered the house of a real estate developer in Bengaluru and robbed him of cash and gold jewellery.
The incident took place on February 16 at BEL Layout in Bengaluru. The victim, 53-year-old Hombalegowda, was at home with his wife, Mangalamma, and their grandchildren when the robbery happened.
According to reports, two of the four accused entered the house first. They were dressed in police uniforms and claimed they had come from the Yelahanka police station. To make their story believable, they carried a bag and a diary similar to those used by real police officers.
Believing that they were genuine officers, the family allowed them inside. The men then allegedly robbed the businessman of ₹20 lakh in cash and around half a kilogram of gold jewellery before leaving the house.
Police have registered a case and started an investigation to identify and arrest the accused. Authorities are also checking CCTV footage from the area and gathering more information about the suspects.
