Former England Cricketer Hugh Morris Dies at 62

Former England cricketer Hugh Morris passed away on Sunday at the age of 62. He had been battling bowel cancer since January 2022.

Morris was a successful opening batsman and played three Test matches for England in 1991. He also captained the England A team on tours to South Africa, the West Indies and Sri Lanka. After retiring from playing, Morris made a strong mark as a cricket administrator and later served as the chief executive of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).

Former Indian cricketer Ravi Shastri, who played alongside Morris at Glamorgan, expressed his sorrow over the loss. In a message on social media, Shastri said he was deeply saddened to hear about the death of his former teammate and captain, and offered his condolences to Morris’s family.

Hugh Morris is remembered for his contributions both on and off the field, and his passing has been mourned by the cricketing world.
