Gavaskar Supports Miller in Delhi Capitals’ Close IPL Loss

Delhi Capitals batter David Miller had a tough game on Wednesday against Gujarat Titans in IPL 2026. Chasing 211, they were just two runs short with two balls left. Miller had a chance to take a crucial single but chose to stay at the crease for the final delivery.

Prasidh Krishna bowled a slower ball, and both Miller and Kuldeep Yadav tried to run a quick single. However, Kuldeep was caught short, leading to his dismissal by Jos Buttler. This gave GT a narrow one-run win, their first of the season.

Legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar defended Miller’s decision. He pointed out that Miller had been aggressive in scoring 41 runs off 19 balls and shouldn’t be blamed for wanting to take the final delivery. Gavaskar suggested that maybe giving Kuldeep the strike earlier could have helped, but it’s hindsight.

Kevin Pietersen agreed, mentioning that Miller might have felt it was riskier to give the strike to Kuldeep. He believed Miller thought he could score the winning runs.

The loss drops Delhi Capitals to fourth place with four points from three matches, while Gujarat Titans are sixth with two points.
