India and Seychelles Strengthen Defence Ties in Joint Military Exercise

The 11th edition of the India-Seychelles Joint Military Exercise, LAMITIYE 2026, is taking place at the Seychelles Defence Academy. This exercise brings together military personnel from both countries to strengthen their defence cooperation and joint operational procedures.

This year’s exercise is special because it’s the first time that all three branches of the Indian Armed Forces – Army, Navy, and Air Force – are participating alongside the Seychelles Defence Forces (SDF). The goal is to train for operations in semi-urban environments, which can be challenging. The exercise includes various activities such as discussions, lectures, demonstrations, and practical drills.

The exercise aims to promote the exchange of best practices between the two countries’ militaries. So far, it has included many professional interactions and tactical drills that have helped strengthen their defence cooperation. The 13-day exercise will continue to contribute to greater cooperation and mutual preparedness for both countries.

The joint military exercise is an important step in building a stronger relationship between India and Seychelles. It demonstrates the commitment of both countries to strengthening their defence ties and working together to address common security challenges.
