India Shows Resilience Amid Global Challenges

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar recently highlighted India’s strong response to global challenges, referencing the ongoing conflict in West Asia. Speaking at IIM Raipur, he noted that India has effectively managed both domestic and international hurdles.

Jaishankar emphasized that global conflicts, despite occurring far away, have significant impacts due to globalization. He acknowledged the severe effects of the West Asia crisis, which began after U.S. and Israeli actions against Iran in February 2026. This conflict has disrupted fuel supplies and caused hydrocarbon shortages worldwide.

The minister stressed the importance of building robust national capabilities as a way to reduce risks and gain leverage in an increasingly competitive world. He pointed out that the global order is shifting, with noticeable changes in the power dynamics among nations. These shifts are making the world more volatile and uncertain.

Jaishankar noted that advancements in technology, energy, military, and connectivity have encouraged countries to take greater risks. He warned that many aspects of modern life are being used as tools for competition or conflict.

In this unpredictable environment, Jaishankar said, nations must focus on hedging risks, diversifying resources, and making decisions that promote stability. Whether in business or diplomacy, securing a safer future is now a top priority.

He identified three major challenges over the past decade: the COVID-19 pandemic, conflicts, and climate change. He highlighted the importance of inclusive growth, fair politics, and strong leadership in building a more resilient and secure future for India.
