India Storm Into Under-19 World Cup Final
India will face England in the final of the Under-19 ODI Cricket World Cup on Friday. The much-awaited summit clash will decide the champion of this year’s tournament.
India reached the final after defeating Afghanistan by seven wickets in the second semifinal held at Harare, Zimbabwe, on Thursday. The young Indian team put up a strong all-round performance to secure a comfortable victory.
Chasing a challenging target of 311 runs, India completed the chase in just 41.1 overs, losing only three wickets. The Indian batters played aggressively and kept the scoring rate high throughout the innings.
Aaron George led the charge with an impressive 115 runs off 104 balls. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi played a quick and attacking knock of 68 runs from just 33 deliveries, giving the team early momentum. Captain Ayush Mhatre also contributed with a steady 62 runs off 59 balls. For Afghanistan, Nooristani Omarzai took two wickets, while Wahidullah Zadran claimed one.
Earlier, Afghanistan had chosen to bat first after winning the toss. They posted a strong total of 310 runs for the loss of four wickets in their 50 overs. Faisal Shinozada scored a brilliant 110 runs off 93 balls, while Uzairullah Niazai added 101 runs off 86 balls to strengthen the innings.
For India, bowlers Deepesh Devendran and Kanishk Chouhan picked up two wickets each to control the Afghan batting line-up.
Aaron George was named Player of the Match for his match-winning century.
With this victory, India has booked a place in the final and will now take on England for the title. Fans are expecting an exciting contest between the two strong teams.
