India Women Beat Sri Lanka by 30 Runs

In women’s cricket, India defeated Sri Lanka by 30 runs in the fourth T20I of the five-match series at Thiruvananthapuram last night. With this win, India has now taken an unassailable 4-0 lead in the series, with one match still remaining.

India batted first and posted a huge total of 221 for 2 in 20 overs. The openers gave a strong start, with Smriti Mandhana scoring 87 and Shafali Verma contributing 79. Richa Ghosh then played a quick and explosive innings of 40 runs off just 16 balls, helping India reach a commanding score.

Chasing 222, Sri Lanka put up a fight but could only manage 191 for 6 in their 20 overs. Sri Lankan captain Chamari Athapaththu scored a fighting 52, supported by opening partner Hasini Perera, who made 33.

Among Indian bowlers, Vaishnavi Sharma was the standout performer, taking 2 wickets for 24 runs in her four overs. Arundhati Reddy also claimed 2 wickets, while Shree Charani took 1. Earlier, Sri Lanka had won the toss and chose to bowl first, but India’s dominant performance with the bat and ball proved too strong.
