Indian Army engineers are helping restore roads in Sri Lanka between the Central and Uwa provinces. The Ministry of Defence said that the Engineer Task Force of the Indian Army has built a 100-foot Bailey Bridge on the B-492 highway, bringing back road connectivity between the two provinces.
A team of 24 skilled Indian Army bridging experts started building the bridge yesterday. Despite bad weather, they completed the entire bridge in just one day.
Before installing the bridge, the team carried out strengthening work on both riverbanks to make the bridge supports stronger and able to handle heavy loads.
This work by the Indian Army has helped local communities by restoring an important road link, making travel and transport easier between the Central and Uwa provinces.
