India’s Defense Exports Break Record with ₹38,424 Crore in FY 25-26
India has reached a major milestone in its defence sector during the financial year 2025–26. The country’s defence exports rose to a record ₹38,424 crore, showing a strong growth of over 62% compared to the previous year. This is the highest-ever export figure in India’s history.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised this achievement and said it reflects the growing trust of other countries in India’s defence products. He explained that this success shows how India is becoming stronger in building its own advanced defence equipment and technology.
He also highlighted that India is moving towards becoming self-reliant in defence production. At the same time, the country is working closely with both government and private companies to build a strong defence ecosystem.
Out of the total exports, Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) contributed about 54.84%. These are government-owned companies that play a key role in manufacturing defence equipment. Meanwhile, private companies contributed around 45.16%, showing that private industries are also growing quickly and playing an important role in the sector.
Looking at previous years, India’s defence exports were ₹23,622 crore in 2024–25 and ₹21,083 crore in 2023–24. This steady increase over the years shows that India is becoming an important player in the global defence market.
Overall, this record-breaking growth highlights India’s progress in defence manufacturing, increasing global demand for its products, and its goal of becoming a major exporter in the world.
