IPL 2026: KKR vs SRH at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will face each other in Match 6 of IPL 2026 at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens on Thursday. Both teams are coming off losses in their opening games.
In their first match, SRH lost to defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), while KKR failed to defend a total of 220/4 against Mumbai Indians (MI), who won comfortably with six wickets to spare.
Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi scored half-centuries for KKR, helping them reach 220/4. However, Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma led MI’s chase with a partnership of 148 runs, securing their victory.
The last time KKR and SRH met at Eden Gardens was on April 3, 2025. SRH, led by Pat Cummins, won the toss and chose to field first. They quickly dismissed KKR’s top batters, Quinton de Kock and Sunil Narine, reducing KKR to 16/2 in the third over.
Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi then steadied the ship with a partnership of 81 runs. Despite losing both Rahane and Raghuvanshi later in the innings, KKR continued to score well, with Venkatesh Iyer hitting a quick 60 runs and forming another strong partnership with Rinku Singh. This helped KKR reach 200/6.
SRH’s chase was a disaster from the start. They lost their top three batters early on, including Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, and Ishan Kishan, leaving them struggling at 9/3 in the third over. By the 11th over, they were down to 75/6. Pat Cummins and Heinrich Klaasen managed a partnership of 37 runs, but it wasn’t enough.
SRH eventually collapsed and were all out for 120 in 16.4 overs, with Klaasen scoring the highest with 33 runs. KKR’s bowlers, including Vaibhav Arora, Varun Chakravarthy, Harshit Rana, Sunil Narine, and Andre Russell, took key wickets to seal the victory.
The match ended with KKR winning by a comfortable margin, showing their strength at home.
