Israel Passes Law for Death Penalty on Palestinians

Israel’s Parliament has passed a new law that introduces the death penalty for Palestinians convicted of killing Israelis. The law was supported by far-right political parties and was approved in a final vote, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also backing it.

According to the new rule, Palestinians from the West Bank who are found guilty of killing Israelis in what is described as “nationalist attacks” could face execution by hanging. Supporters of the law say it is needed to deal more strongly with serious attacks.

The decision has been strongly supported by far-right groups in Israel, who see it as an important step in their security policy. They have welcomed the law as a major political achievement.

However, the law has also received heavy criticism from human rights organizations and international observers. They say the law violates basic human rights and could increase tensions in the region. Critics also warn that it may harm efforts to bring peace between Israelis and Palestinians.
