Karnataka Congress MLAs Seek Cabinet Positions
The internal power struggle in the Indian National Congress in Karnataka appears to be growing stronger. On Tuesday, at least 45 MLAs from the ruling party met in Bengaluru at the Shangri-la Hotel to discuss their chances of getting cabinet positions in the government led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
The meeting was held over dinner, where the MLAs discussed their demands and future plans. After the discussion, they decided to meet the party’s top leaders, also known as the Congress high command, in New Delhi on March 26. They hope to present their concerns directly to the central leadership.
Many of the MLAs who attended the meeting are either serving their first term or second term. They said they want the party leadership to consider giving cabinet posts to some of them. They also said that, with the 2028 elections approaching, the party needs clarity about internal differences within the government.
One MLA said they will submit a formal request to both the Chief Minister and the party leadership. They believe that resolving internal issues soon will help strengthen the party and prepare it better for future elections.
The meeting highlights the ongoing discussions within the party about power sharing and representation in the state government.
