Karnataka to Submit Fresh Mekedatu Project Report

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said on Tuesday that the state
will submit a new Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Mekedatu project because
the old DPR was made using the 2018–19 Schedule of Rates.
After meeting officials and the Cauvery Neeravari Nigam Board of Directors,
Shivakumar said the update is being done after the Supreme Court recently said
that Tamil Nadu’s objection to the project was “premature.”
He told reporters, “In the meeting, we discussed how to move the project forward
after the Supreme Court order. We now need to submit a new DPR that will include
details about the forest area that will be submerged.”
