Kerala Assembly Protests Centre’s Discriminatory Approach

The Kerala Legislative Assembly has unanimously passed a resolution strongly criticising the Union government for what it called the “continued neglect and discriminatory approach” towards the state.

The resolution said that every state must be safe, developed, and economically strong for the country to grow as a whole. It warned that if states are weakened, the nation itself will become weaker. The Assembly stressed that fair treatment to all states is necessary for India’s overall progress.

On Wednesday, February 4, members of the Assembly from all parties supported the resolution, showing unity on the issue. The resolution expressed concern that Kerala has not been receiving its fair share of funds and support from the Centre.

He accused the Union government of going against the principles of federalism, which give states certain rights and powers under the Constitution. He said the Centre’s financial and policy decisions were affecting Kerala’s development plans and slowing down welfare schemes.

The Chief Minister claimed that cuts in funds, restrictions on borrowing, and delays in approvals have created difficulties for the state government. According to him, these actions have limited Kerala’s ability to carry out development projects and provide services to the people.

The resolution urged the Union government to treat all states equally and respect the federal structure of the country. It also called for better cooperation between the Centre and the states to ensure balanced growth across India.
