Kharge Warns of Severe Impact from Government’s Redistricting Plan

Mallikarjun Kharge, president of the Indian National Congress, raised strong concerns during a recent party meeting about the government’s plan to redraw electoral boundaries.

He warned that this step, which is linked to increasing women’s representation in legislatures, could have serious effects if not handled carefully. Kharge said such changes should be discussed properly, as they can impact how people are represented in elections. He also added that the Congress will work with other opposition parties to form a united response on this issue.

Kharge further criticized the government for planning a parliamentary session starting April 16. He claimed that the session is being held mainly for political gain rather than public interest. According to him, this could go against the Model Code of Conduct.

He also expressed concern that important laws might be passed quickly without enough discussion. Kharge stressed that major decisions should be taken only after proper debate to ensure fairness and transparency.
