Mandhana Rates India’s Women’s World Cup Win 7/10
India vice-captain Smriti Mandhana has given India’s first-ever Women’s World Cup victory a rating of 7 out of 10. While she said the team is proud of making history, she also felt there are many areas where the team can still improve.
Mandhana said the 2025 Women’s World Cup was India’s best chance to win the title because the tournament was played in India. Playing on home grounds gave the team strong support and familiar conditions, which helped them in the long run.
India’s journey in the tournament was not easy. The team started well with two early wins but then suffered three consecutive losses against strong teams like Australia, England, and South Africa. These defeats put pressure on the team and made their chances look uncertain.
However, the Women in Blue made a strong comeback later in the tournament. Their remarkable turnaround helped them create history by winning their first Women’s World Cup at home. The achievement reminded fans of India’s 2011 men’s World Cup victory under MS Dhoni, which was also won on home soil.
