Mbappe Sends France Through; Ronaldo Sees Red

Kylian Mbappé and the France team have officially qualified for the
2026 World Cup. But Cristiano Ronaldo may now miss Portugal’s first
match at the tournament if his team wins its European qualifying group,
because he received a red card.

Mbappé scored two goals in France’s 4-0 win over Ukraine on Thursday,
helping the two-time World Cup champions book their spot. Midfielder
Michael Olise and substitute Hugo Ekitiké scored the other two goals
as France dominated the second half.

Meanwhile, Portugal will have to wait until Sunday to try again for
qualification. The team was shocked by a 2-0 loss to Ireland in Dublin,
and Ronaldo received the first international red card of his career.
