Medavakkam Flyover Area Set for Green Makeover

The Velachery–Tambaram Road is soon going to get a new green and clean public
space. Work to improve the area under the Medavakkam flyover will begin this week.
This place has been dirty for many years, with garbage and waste piling up, but
it will now be completely cleaned and transformed.
The open space covers about 6,000 square metres. After cleaning, the area will
get many new facilities for the public. Two gazebos will be built where people
can sit and relax. Granite benches will be placed for comfortable seating.
Walkways stretching 550 metres will be created using interlocking bricks so
that people can walk safely and enjoy the surroundings.
A fountain will be installed to make the place more attractive. Six sculptures
will also be added, and these will highlight and celebrate Tamil culture.
In addition, a lot of greenery will be planted to make the area look fresh,
cool, and environmentally friendly.
Once completed, this new space under the Medavakkam flyover will provide a
pleasant spot for residents to walk, rest, and enjoy a cleaner environment.
