Mitchell Starc May Miss Delhi Capitals Matches in IPL 2026

Delhi Capitals (DC) are facing a setback as pacer Mitchell Starc is likely to miss at least three more matches in IPL 2026 due to injuries. According to reports, the Australian player has not yet joined the team’s camp.

The Delhi Capitals management remains hopeful that Starc will join them later in the season, but he won’t be available before 20 April. He is currently recovering from shoulder and elbow injuries sustained during the 2025-26 Ashes series.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Capitals are scheduled to play Sunrisers Hyderabad on 21 April. Before that, they will face Gujarat Titans (8 April), Chennai Super Kings (11 April), and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (18 April).

In March, Starc addressed his injury on social media, calling some reports “heavily misinformed opinions.” He emphasized that he was rehabilitating and managing an injury he didn’t fully understand during the Australian summer.

Despite Starc’s absence, Delhi Capitals have performed well, winning both their opening matches of IPL 2026. They defeated Lucknow Super Giants on 1 April and Mumbai Indians three days later. Their pace bowling unit, led by Mukesh Kumar and Lungi Ngidi, has been impressive. T Natarajan has also contributed with four wickets in two matches.

Currently, Delhi Capitals are fourth in the IPL 2026 standings with 4 points from two matches. The team had signed Starc for ₹11.75 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction. In IPL 2025, he was the second-highest wicket-taker for Delhi Capitals, finishing with 14 wickets behind spinner Kuldeep Yadav.
