MK Stalin Distributes ₹3,000 Pongal Gift

Chennai: Chief Minister MK Stalin on Thursday distributed the Pongal cash gift of ₹3,000 to rice ration card holders at a fair price shop in Alandur. He personally handed over the benefits to beneficiaries as part of the state government’s Pongal festival welfare scheme.

Later, Stalin shared a message on X (formerly Twitter), saying that the scheme would ensure a “happy Pongal for families” across Tamil Nadu.

Along with the cash assistance of ₹3,000, each beneficiary also received 1 kg of raw rice, 1 kg of sugar, a full-length sugarcane stalk, a dhoti, and a saree. These items are traditionally associated with the Pongal festival.

The government said that the distribution is being carried out through fair price shops across the state, ensuring that eligible families receive the benefits in a smooth and timely manner ahead of the festival celebrations.
