Modi Hails Women’s Reservation Act as Historical Progress

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke about the importance of the Women’s Reservation Act during a speech in New Delhi. He said that Parliament is close to an important and historic step, as there are plans to make changes to the law this week so it can be implemented by 2029.

The Prime Minister was speaking at a conference of women held before a special session of Parliament. He explained that when the law was introduced in 2023, it was supported by all political parties. This showed that there was strong agreement across the country on the need to increase women’s representation in politics.

The Women’s Reservation Act aims to reserve a certain number of seats for women in Parliament and state assemblies. This is meant to give women a stronger voice in decision-making and help create more equal opportunities.

PM Modi said that there is now a shared demand from leaders and citizens to implement the law as soon as possible. He added that this step will help empower women and support gender equality in India.

Overall, the proposed changes and planned implementation of the law are seen as an important move toward improving women’s participation in the political system and strengthening democracy in the country.
