Modi to Launch ₹5,450 Crore Projects in Assam
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Assam tomorrow to inaugurate and launch several development projects worth more than ₹5,450 crore in Guwahati and other parts of the State.
He will arrive at around 10:30 AM at the Emergency Landing Facility on Moran Bypass in Dibrugarh. During his visit there, he will watch an aerial display by fighter jets, transport aircraft, and helicopters. The event is expected to showcase the strength and preparedness of the Indian Air Force.
In the afternoon, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Kumar Bhaskar Varma Setu, a major bridge built across the River Brahmaputra at a cost of over ₹3,000 crore. The bridge is expected to improve road connectivity in the region and reduce travel time for people living on both sides of the river. It will also help in boosting trade and economic activity in Assam and neighbouring states.
Mr. Modi will also inaugurate the National Data Centre for the North Eastern Region at Amingaon in Kamrup district. The data centre is aimed at strengthening digital infrastructure in the region. It will support government services, improve data storage capacity, and promote digital growth in the Northeast.
Another key highlight of the visit will be the inauguration of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Guwahati. The new campus is expected to boost higher education and management studies in the North-Eastern Region. It will provide quality education and create new opportunities for students from Assam and nearby states.
Officials said the Prime Minister’s visit underlines the Centre’s focus on improving infrastructure, connectivity, digital services, and education in the Northeast. Security arrangements have been tightened ahead of the visit, and preparations are in full swing to ensure the smooth conduct of all events.
