NC’s Three New Rajya Sabha MPs to Take Oath
Three newly elected Rajya Sabha members from the National Conference will take their oath on December 1, the first day of the Parliament’s Winter Session.
According to Akashvani Jammu, the three MPs — Shammi Oberoi, Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo, and Chowdhary Mohammad Ramzan — will be sworn in by Vice-President and Rajya Sabha Chairman C. P. Radhakrishnan.
This oath-taking is important because it marks the return of Rajya Sabha members from Jammu and Kashmir after almost five years. The three leaders were elected last month in the first Rajya Sabha elections held in the Union Territory since the 2019 reorganization of the state and the removal of Article 370.
The election was for four seats. The National Conference won three, and the BJP won one, with its candidate Sat Sharma already having taken his oath.
Chowdhary Ramzan is a senior leader, former minister, and multiple-term MLA.
Sajjad Kichloo is also a former minister from Kishtwar.
