No Ground Troops Needed in US-Iran Conflict
Marco Rubio, the United States Secretary of State, has said that ground troops are not needed for a successful outcome in the conflict involving Iran. He said the situation is moving quickly and may end within weeks, not months.
Rubio made these remarks after attending the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting held in Paris. He said the current military campaign is progressing faster than expected and is achieving its goals without the need for large-scale ground fighting.
He also said that the United States has not yet received an official response from Iran regarding a 15-point peace plan proposed by US President Donald Trump to end the conflict. According to Rubio, discussions are still ongoing, but no formal agreement has been reached.
While President Trump has said that peace talks are progressing smoothly, Iranian officials have given a different account. They say there has been only limited and indirect communication, and not any direct or formal negotiations.
The comments highlight the ongoing differences between the two sides and show that the situation remains uncertain, even as diplomatic efforts continue.
