Over Two Lakh PUC Certificates Issued in Delhi
Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said today that more than two
lakh Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificates have been issued since the
“No PUC, No Fuel” campaign began in the national capital.
Speaking to the media in New Delhi, he asked private companies to strictly
follow GRAP-IV pollution control rules and warned that strict action would
be taken against those who fail to follow them. He said the Delhi Pollution
Control Committee (DPCC) and officials of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi
(MCD) are carrying out a major drive to seal polluting factories and illega
industrial units.
The Minister said that action will be taken immediately against institutions as
soon as complaints are received, without giving them any extra chances.
He also said the India Meteorological Department has forecast better weather
from tomorrow, which may help improve air quality in the region.
