Pakistan Files Complaint Over DRS Controversy in ODI Match vs Bangladesh
The Pakistan cricket team has officially complained to the match referee about a disputed Decision Review System (DRS) call during the third One-Day International (ODI) against Bangladesh in Dhaka. The incident occurred when Pakistan was trying to chase down a target of 290 runs.
Pakistan’s batsman Shaheen Afridi was facing a delivery from Rishad Hossain and the umpire initially called it a wide. However, Bangladesh reviewed the decision as an LBW (Leg Before Wicket) call, which was later overturned due to a spike on UltraEdge showing contact between the bat and ball.
Pakistan felt that Bangladesh took too long to review the decision, going beyond the 15-second window allowed by the International Cricket Council (ICC). The Pakistan team management believes that Bangladesh only asked for the DRS after seeing a replay of the delivery on the big screen, which is against ICC rules.
The controversy further dented Pakistan’s chances of winning the match, and they ultimately lost by 11 runs. In their complaint, Pakistan wants an acknowledgement from Bangladesh that a mistake was made in the review process.
Pakistan head coach Mike Hesson met with the match referee after the game to officially file the complaint. The incident highlights the importance of proper communication and adherence to rules during international cricket matches.
