Pakistani Airstrike Kills Civilians in Afghan Border Area
At least ten civilians, including nine children, were killed after Pakistan’s air
force bombed a residential area in Afghanistan’s Khost province, the Afghan
government said today. Officials said the attack happened just after midnight
and hit a local resident’s home, raising new worries about growing tension along
the border.
Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesman for Afghanistan’s caretaker government, said the
strike happened around 12 a.m. on Tuesday in the Mughalgai area of Khost’s Gurbuz district
district. This new attack has increased fears of more violence, as tensions
between the two countries rise again. It comes after a short break in cross-border
fighting following heavy clashes in October.
