PCB Chief Seeks Withdrawal of India Match Boycott
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi is likely to ask Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to reconsider the decision to boycott Pakistan’s T20 World Cup match against India. This move comes after a request from his Bangladesh counterpart, according to a PCB source.
The PCB had earlier planned to boycott the match due to political tensions between the two countries. However, recent discussions have led officials to review the decision, as the game is considered important for the tournament and for cricket fans across the region.
Sources said Naqvi will meet Prime Minister Sharif later on Monday to brief him about the latest developments. He is expected to explain the situation and suggest that Pakistan participate in the match instead of skipping it.
The highly anticipated match between India and Pakistan is scheduled to take place in Colombo on February 15. Such matches usually attract huge viewership and are among the most watched games in international cricket.
Officials believe that playing the match could help maintain the spirit of sportsmanship and avoid disappointment for fans. It may also help reduce tensions in the sporting arena.
A final decision is expected after Naqvi’s meeting with the Prime Minister.
