Probe Ordered Into Infosys Land Sale in Bengaluru

Five sub-registrars in Bengaluru have been suspended after allegations that 53.5 acres of land owned by Infosys were registered illegally. The land is said to be worth about ₹250 crore. Officials suspect that loopholes in the Kaveri 2.0 online registration system were used to carry out the registration.

The Karnataka government has ordered a detailed investigation into the issue. The case has raised concerns about the misuse of rules that allow land registration based on court orders.

Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda said the Bengaluru Deputy Commissioner has been directed to examine complaints related to the sale of the Infosys land in Anekal taluk. The land was reportedly sold to real estate developer Puravankara.

Speaking to reporters, the minister said a thorough inquiry will be carried out to find out how the registration happened and whether any rules were broken. He added that strict action will be taken against anyone found guilty after the investigation.

The suspension of the five sub-registrars is an initial step taken by the government while the probe is ongoing. Officials said more action could follow once the investigation is completed.
