Promoting Maritime Growth for Global South: A Stable Future Ahead

Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh recently emphasized the importance of stable maritime growth for the global south at the Raisina Dialogue 2026 in New Delhi. The Minister stressed that India’s decisions are guided by national interests and not influenced by any single bloc. He reiterated that India consistently supports freedom of navigation and opposes unilateral attempts to alter the current situation in the Indo-Pacific region. The Minister highlighted India’s commitment to dialogue and diplomacy, which is evident in its efforts to promote connectivity and stability through initiatives such as the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor. This approach has been consistent whether dealing with conflicts in Ukraine or West Asia. The Minister expressed India’s shared vision for a free, open, inclusive, and cooperative Indo-Pacific with the United States, while cooperation with Europe is based on shared democratic values and pragmatic negotiations. As India assumes the BRICS chairmanship, the country will focus on four key pillars: resilience, innovation, cooperation, and sustainability. The Minister emphasized that these pillars will guide India’s efforts to promote global stability and growth.
