RAB Officer Killed in Mob Attack

In Bangladesh, a Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) officer was killed and at least three others were seriously injured after their team was attacked by a large mob in the Jungle Salimpur area of Sitakunda in Chattogram on Monday evening.

The officer who died was identified as Deputy Assistant Director Abdul Motaleb of RAB-7. According to RAB and police officials, the team was carrying out an operation to recover illegal weapons and arrest criminals in the area.

During the operation, around 500 people gathered and launched a coordinated attack on the RAB personnel. Officials said the attackers were mobilised through loudspeaker announcements. The situation quickly turned violent, leading to severe injuries among the officers.

Security forces later managed to control the situation. An investigation has been launched to identify and arrest those involved in the attack.
