Rahul Criticizes Modi Government’s LPG Crisis Response
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi recently criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s handling of the LPG gas crisis, comparing it to how the government managed the COVID-19 pandemic. He accused the Modi government of lacking clear policies and making grand announcements while placing the burden on poor households.
Gandhi highlighted that daily wage earners, who earn between ₹500-800, are struggling to afford cooking gas. Many laborers are forced to abandon cities and return to villages due to the unaffordable costs. He also criticized the government’s failure to acknowledge a diplomatic mistake that led to the crisis.
The leader of the opposition questioned why the poor always suffer first in crises and urged people not to stay silent. He emphasized that this issue affects everyone, not just the marginalized communities.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi had previously called for unity and preparedness during the LPG crisis, similar to the COVID response. The government has also taken steps to ensure the supply of petroleum products and diversify sources for LPG procurement from various countries. However, Gandhi remains critical of the approach, stating that it falls short of addressing the root issues faced by laborers and industries.
