RCB Head Coach Andy Flower Looks Ahead to IPL 2026 Challenge

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are preparing for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season opener against Sunrisers Hyderabad. With Head Coach Andy Flower leading the team, RCB aims to defend their title with a fresh approach.

Flower emphasized that while the team is last year’s champion, this season brings new challenges. He noted changes in players, opponents, and conditions, making it a different experience from IPL 2025. The team has learned from past home matches at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, where they initially struggled but gained valuable insights.

Flower praised the leadership of captain Rajat Patidar and deputy Jitesh Sharma. He highlighted Patidar’s calm demeanor and how it benefits the bowlers, while Sharma’s energy and tactical awareness make him an effective deputy.

Virat Kohli’s mental readiness was also commended by Flower, who noted his hunger and peak performance in training. The coach expressed confidence in the bowling team, particularly domestic seamers Rasikh, Mangesh, and Abhinandan. He mentioned their improvement and potential impact during the tournament.

Josh Hazlewood, the Australian fast bowler, arrived recently and is recovering from an injury. While he won’t play in the first match, Flower looks forward to his return soon.

RCB is focused on using their home advantage and new strategies to start IPL 2026 strong.
