Rijiju Alleges Congress MPs Abused Speaker
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on Thursday, February 12, 2026, repeated his claim that some Congress MPs had behaved inappropriately with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla inside his chamber. He alleged that the MPs had used abusive language during the incident.
Rijiju said that the BJP believes in healthy debate and open discussion inside Parliament. He added that his party does not support any kind of physical or verbal intimidation. According to him, disagreements should be handled through proper parliamentary procedures and respectful dialogue.
The Minister said that Parliament is a place for discussion and democratic debate, and members must maintain decorum and dignity at all times. He urged all parties to follow the rules and traditions of the House.
The remarks come amid rising tensions between the ruling party and the Opposition over recent issues discussed in Parliament. Political leaders from both sides have been trading allegations, leading to heated exchanges inside and outside the House.
Rijiju said that differences of opinion are natural in a democracy, but they should not cross the limits of acceptable behaviour.
