Row Erupts Over BJP Leader’s Obscene Remarks
A new political controversy has started in Tamil Nadu after Congress MP S. Jothimani accused a BJP leader of making insulting and obscene remarks about her.
Jothimani shared a video on social media platform X on Monday, February 16. The video was reportedly taken during a BJP protest held near the Head Post Office in Karur on February 10.
In the video, BJP’s Karur district president V.V. Senthilnathan is allegedly heard making derogatory and sexually explicit comments about women in politics. According to Jothimani, he portrayed women leaders — including her — as prostitutes and questioned their merit, hard work, experience, and dignity.
Jothimani strongly condemned the remarks and described them as “obscene and deeply repulsive.” She said the comments reflect systemic misogyny within the BJP and the RSS. She also called for strict action against the leader.
Following the controversy, an FIR was registered against Senthilnathan for allegedly insulting women and making offensive remarks. However, he denied the accusations and refused to apologise, which further intensified the political row.
The issue has sparked outrage, with leaders from different parties reacting strongly. The controversy has once again brought attention to the treatment of women in politics and the need for respectful public discourse.
