Rupee Depreciation Unlikely to Impact Economy: RBI
RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra has said that the fall in the value of the
rupee will not have a major impact on the Indian economy. In an interview
with India Today, he said the current level of rupee depreciation is similar
to what has been seen over the past 10 to 20 years.
He pointed out that the rupee has fallen by about 3% per year over the last 10
years, and by around 3.4% per year over the last 20 years. According to him,
the present trend is not very different from the past and should not cause serious concern.
