Russian Drone Strike Kills Twelve in Dnipro

A Russian drone attack hit the Ukrainian city of Dnipro on Sunday (February 1, 2026), killing at least 12 people, Ukrainian officials said. The drone hit a bus carrying mineworkers, turning their normal trip to work into a tragic event.

The explosion badly damaged the bus. Several other passengers were injured, and some were seriously hurt. Emergency teams quickly reached the scene to help the victims and give first aid.

The attack also caused a fire near the bus. Firefighters arrived and put out the flames to stop the fire from spreading. Rescue workers stayed at the spot for hours to make sure everyone was safe and no one was trapped.

Local officials said the situation was very serious and expressed sadness over the loss of lives. They said many families were affected, as the victims were workers going to their jobs.

The attack took place just hours after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced new peace talks between Russia and Ukraine. The talks are scheduled for Wednesday (February 4) and Thursday (February 5). These talks aim to reduce tensions and try to end the war.

Even with these peace efforts, the attack shows that the fighting is still continuing. Ukrainian authorities strongly condemned the strike and said civilians and workers should not be targeted.

The war between Russia and Ukraine has already caused heavy damage to cities and forced many people to leave their homes. Many people now hope the upcoming talks will bring peace and stability to the region.
