Sabarimala Gold Theft Accused Unnikrishnan Potty Released

Unnikrishnan Potty, the main accused in the Sabarimala gold theft case, has been granted bail by a Kerala court. The decision came after the Special Investigation Team (SIT) failed to submit a chargesheet within 90 days of his arrest, as required by law.

The bail was granted in the second case related to the missing gold from the Sreekovil (the sanctum sanctorum) door frames of the temple. Earlier, Potty had already been granted bail in a related case involving the Dwarapalaka idol.

With this new bail, Potty is expected to be released from jail soon. He now has bail in both of the main cases connected to the Sabarimala gold theft.

Authorities continue to investigate the case, but the court’s decision reflects the legal requirement that chargesheets must be filed within a set time period. The release has drawn attention from the public, as the Sabarimala gold theft was a high-profile case in Kerala.
