Saudi Arabia Intercepts Missiles Amid Regional Tensions
Saudi Arabia said on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, that its air defence systems intercepted seven ballistic missiles that were fired in separate attacks targeting an air base and areas in the country’s eastern region. The missiles were reportedly launched as part of renewed attacks linked to Iran amid rising tensions in the Gulf region.
Saudi authorities said their defence systems successfully detected and destroyed the missiles before they could hit their targets. Officials did not immediately report any casualties or major damage, but security forces remained on high alert following the incident.
The attacks come as tensions in West Asia continue to rise, with several countries in the region facing security threats. Saudi Arabia said it is closely monitoring the situation and taking necessary steps to protect its territory and important infrastructure.
At the same time, Israel carried out fresh airstrikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut on Wednesday, according to reports from Lebanon’s state media.
The Israeli military said the strikes were aimed at positions linked to Hezbollah, which is supported by Iran. Israel has repeatedly accused Hezbollah of posing a security threat and has targeted its locations in previous military operations.
The renewed attacks highlight the growing instability in the region, as conflicts between Iran, Israel, and their allies continue to intensify. Analysts warn that further escalation could increase the risk of wider regional conflict and affect global security and energy markets.
Authorities in the affected areas are closely monitoring the situation while international leaders have called for restraint to prevent further violence.
