Scotland Replaces Bangladesh in T20 World Cup

Scotland has officially replaced Bangladesh in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Friday, January 23.

Bangladesh decided to withdraw from the tournament because of security concerns. The Bangladesh Cricket Board said their worries were not properly addressed by the ICC, which led them to pull out of the event.

According to reports, the ICC informed the Bangladesh Cricket Board through a letter that Scotland would take their place in the tournament. The decision was made during a meeting held in Dubai on Friday. The meeting was led by ICC Chairman Jay Shah to discuss Bangladesh’s participation and take a final call.

In a last attempt, Bangladesh asked the ICC to send the matter to the dispute resolution committee. However, the committee said it could not act as an appeal body and did not interfere with the ICC’s decision.

As a result, Scotland will now compete in the T20 World Cup instead of Bangladesh.
