Seychelles President Arrives in India on Official Visit

Seychelles President Patrick Herminie arrived in Chennai early this morning on his first official visit to India. He was warmly received at the airport by State Minister Madhivendhan and senior officials of the Tamil Nadu government.

President Herminie is on a five-day visit to India as part of efforts to strengthen ties between the two countries. During his stay in Chennai, he is scheduled to meet Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi and take part in official engagements.

On February 7, he will travel to Mumbai, where he will meet Maharashtra Governor Acharya Devrat and attend other meetings. His visit comes at a special time, as India and Seychelles are celebrating 50 years of strong diplomatic relations this year.

According to a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs, the Seychelles President will also meet President Droupadi Murmu and hold talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Their discussions will focus on improving cooperation between the two countries in areas such as trade, security, development, and regional and international matters of mutual interest.

Officials said the visit is expected to further strengthen friendship and partnership between India and Seychelles, especially in the Indian Ocean region. Both nations have worked closely in the past on maritime security, capacity building, and development projects.

The visit highlights the growing relationship between the two countries and their shared commitment to deeper cooperation.
