Shubman Gill Set for BCCI Cricketer Award
India’s Test and ODI captain Shubman Gill is expected to be named Cricketer of the Year at the annual awards organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. The award ceremony is scheduled to take place on March 15.
The 26-year-old batter had an excellent year in international cricket, especially in Test matches and One Day Internationals (ODIs). His strong performances with the bat helped India win important matches and maintain a strong position in both formats.
Although Gill was not included in India’s T20 squad that successfully defended the ICC T20 World Cup title last month, he continued to shine in the longer formats of the game. His consistent run-scoring, leadership, and match-winning performances made him one of the most outstanding players of the year.
Gill has also taken on greater responsibility as captain of the Indian team in Tests and ODIs. Under his leadership, the team has performed well, and his batting form has remained impressive. Cricket experts believe his performances across the year make him a deserving candidate for the BCCI’s top individual award.
The BCCI annual awards recognise the best performances by Indian cricketers across formats and domestic competitions. If confirmed, the honour would mark another major milestone in Gill’s rapidly growing international career.
