Sindhu, Lakshya Enter Indonesia Masters Quarterfinals
Top Indian badminton players P.V. Sindhu and Lakshya Sen have entered the quarterfinals of the Indonesia Masters tournament in Jakarta with impressive wins. Both players delivered strong performances to move into the next round.
In the women’s singles event, two-time Olympic medallist Sindhu defeated Denmark’s Line Hojmark Kjaersfeldt in straight games. She won the match 21-19, 21-18 after a close contest and secured her place in the last eight. Sindhu remained calm under pressure and finished the match confidently.
In the men’s singles category, seventh seed Lakshya Sen also advanced comfortably. He beat Hong Kong’s Jason Gunawan 21-10, 21-11 in a one-sided match. Lakshya dominated the game from the beginning and gave his opponent very little chance to score.
In the quarterfinals today, Lakshya will face Thailand’s Panitchaphon Teeraratsakul. Sindhu will have a tough challenge as she takes on top seed Chen Yu Fei of China. Both players will be aiming to continue their winning run and reach the semifinals.
However, it was a disappointing day for some other Indian players. Former world number one Kidambi Srikanth was knocked out of the tournament.
Indian fans will now hope Sindhu and Lakshya can go further and bring home medals from the tournament.
