South Korea’s President Urges National Assembly for Supplementary Budget Approval
President Lee Jae Myung has asked the National Assembly of South Korea to quickly approve a large extra budget of about $17.1 billion. This money is needed to help the country deal with economic problems caused by the ongoing conflict in West Asia, involving the United States and Iran.
In his speech, Lee described the situation as unexpected and very complex. He said the crisis has now entered its second month and is starting to affect economies around the world, including South Korea. Because of this, he stressed that quick and special actions are necessary to keep the economy stable.
Lee explained that the government is treating this situation like a wartime-level economic emergency. He said they are using all available resources to reduce the impact of the crisis and protect the country’s financial stability.
The proposed budget is mainly aimed at helping people and businesses that are most affected by the crisis. It also focuses on preventing a slowdown in economic recovery and supporting key sectors of the economy.
Overall, the government hopes that this emergency funding will reduce the negative effects of global tensions and help South Korea continue its path toward economic growth.
