Sri Lankan President Thanks India for Fuel Aid

Sri Lanka’s President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has thanked India for helping his country during a difficult time by sending much-needed fuel. A large shipment of petroleum recently arrived in Colombo, bringing relief to the nation as it faces fuel shortages.

In a message shared on social media, the president expressed his sincere gratitude for India’s timely support. He also said that he had recently spoken with Narendra Modi about Sri Lanka’s situation. During their discussion, he explained the challenges the country is facing due to a lack of fuel, which has been made worse by ongoing tensions and conflict in West Asia.

The latest shipment included around 38,000 metric tons of petroleum. This supply was divided equally between diesel and petrol, both of which are essential for transport, power generation, and daily activities. The arrival of this fuel is expected to reduce immediate shortages and help maintain normal life in the country.

Sri Lanka has been struggling to secure enough fuel in recent weeks. Supplies from West Asia and even from Singapore were disrupted due to unexpected problems such as force majeure and logistical delays. These issues made it difficult for the country to receive its usual fuel imports on time.

With this new delivery from India, officials hope the fuel situation will become more stable in the coming days. The government is continuing to work on long-term solutions while also relying on international support to manage the current crisis.
