Stalin Opens ₹96 Crore Bridge, Launches New Project

Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Thursday inaugurated a new railway overbridge at the 2B-level crossing on Korukkupet–Manali Road. The bridge has been built at a cost of ₹96 crore and is expected to reduce traffic congestion in the busy north Chennai area.

The new overbridge replaces the level crossing where vehicles earlier had to wait whenever trains passed. Residents and daily commuters often faced long delays, especially during peak hours. With the opening of the bridge, vehicles can now move smoothly without being stopped for train movement, saving time and reducing traffic jams.

During the event, the Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone for another railway overbridge at the 2A railway crossing on Ennore High Road in Korukkupet. This new project will be constructed at an estimated cost of ₹75 crore. Once completed, it is expected to further ease traffic flow and improve road safety in the surrounding areas.

Officials said both projects are part of the State government’s efforts to improve infrastructure and reduce congestion at railway level crossings across Chennai. The bridges will benefit thousands of motorists, including workers travelling to industrial areas such as Manali and Ennore.

Local residents welcomed the inauguration of the new overbridge and expressed hope that the upcoming project would be completed on time. They said these developments would make daily travel faster and safer.

Government officials added that more infrastructure projects are being planned to strengthen connectivity and support the growing traffic needs of the city.
