Suryavanshi Becomes Youngest U19 World Cup Centurion
India’s young cricketer Vaibhav Suryavanshi created history by becoming the youngest batter to score a century in an ICC Under-19 World Cup match. The Indian opener reached his first hundred of the tournament in just 55 balls against England in the final at the Harare Sports Club.
Playing in his first Under-19 World Cup, Suryavanshi had shown good form in earlier matches but could not convert his starts into big scores. However, in the most important match of the tournament, he delivered a brilliant performance.
After India captain Ayush Mhatre won the toss and chose to bat first in the final, Suryavanshi gave the team a strong start. He played attacking shots and scored quickly, putting pressure on the England bowlers. His fast century helped India build a big total as the team aimed to win a record sixth Under-19 World Cup title.
With this achievement, Suryavanshi broke the previous record held by Bangladesh’s Najmul Hossain Shanto, who had scored a century at the age of 15 years and 165 days. Suryavanshi set the new record at just 14 years and 316 days old, making him the youngest centurion in the tournament’s history.
His innings was praised by fans and experts, who called it a special knock under pressure on the big stage.
