Telangana CM Seeks Clearance for Krishna Projects
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday, January 9, appealed to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to stop blocking approvals for irrigation projects on the Krishna river. These projects were started when Andhra Pradesh was undivided.
The Chief Minister said that cooperation and dialogue are needed to resolve inter-State water disputes peacefully. He stressed that such issues should be settled through discussion and mutual understanding, rather than conflict.
Revanth Reddy pointed out that Telangana is facing a heavy financial burden because approvals for these projects have been delayed. Due to the lack of clearances, the Union government funds meant for the projects are also being held up.
He said that the delay is affecting irrigation development and harming farmers in Telangana. The Chief Minister urged the Andhra Pradesh government to work together with Telangana to ensure that long-pending projects move forward without further delays.
