Theft Reported Inside Minister’s Office at Vidhana Soudha
A security lapse has come to light at Vidhana Soudha, the seat of power in Karnataka, after a theft was reported from the office of Congress minister Bhairati Suresh.
According to the police, a man named Naveen had visited the minister’s office on official work. He was carrying a handbag that contained around 300 grams of gold jewellery and ₹1.5 lakh in cash. After finishing his work, he accidentally left the bag behind inside the office premises.
Naveen realised only later that he had forgotten the bag. He returned to the office the next day to collect it, but the bag was missing. He immediately informed the staff and later filed a complaint with the police.
The incident has raised concerns about security arrangements inside Vidhana Soudha, which houses important government offices and ministers. Officials said that such a high-security area is expected to have strict monitoring and surveillance.
Police have registered a case and started an investigation. They are checking CCTV camera footage and questioning staff and visitors to find out what happened to the bag. Efforts are underway to trace the missing valuables and identify the person responsible for the theft.
The incident has sparked questions about how a theft could occur inside one of the most secure government buildings in the State.
