Udupi Welcomes PM Modi During Road Show
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Udupi to attend the Koti Gita Lekhana
Yajna Abhiyan organized by Udupi Paryaya Sri Puthige Mutt and the Gita Parayana,
a group recitation of the Bhagavad Gita.
He inaugurated the gold-plated Tirtha Mantapa and dedicated the gold-plated Kanaka
Kindi, a sacred window that Lord Krishna is believed to have opened for his
devotee Saint Kanakadasa. Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundurao received
him in Mangaluru.
A large crowd came to greet the Prime Minister. During the two-kilometre road
show, people on both sides of the road showered flowers, and the Prime Minister
waved to them. Traditional Yakshagana and Hulivesha dancers also performed
during the procession. He then reached Udupi Sri Krishna Mutt to take part
in the scheduled events.
